Balblair
History: First documentary mention of a Balblair destillery in 1749; officially founded in 1780 by John Ross. In 1894, a new distillery was built at the historic site, which was taken over by the army as a military base in 1939. In 1949, 4 years after the end of the war, production began again. In 1964, various extensions and renovations followed. In 2003, Balblair won the gold medal at the International Wine and Spirit Competition for Balblair 33yo; This whisky also won the "Best of the Best" award in the Mainland Malt category. More gold medals for the 38yo and other bottlings will follow. A complete redesign of the brand followed in 2007.
